Xiaomi has finally confirmed the launch date for the Xiaomi 17 series. The company will unveil all three models on September 25 in China — this Thursday. Alongside the phones, Xiaomi will also introduce the new Pad 8 series on the same day.
The phone’s lineup includes the standard Xiaomi 17, the Xiaomi 17 Pro, and the Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. And they will be the first to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, which Qualcomm is set to launch on September 23.

Xiaomi isn’t saying much about the hardware just yet, but it’s not shying away from setting our expectations. The company is calling the Xiaomi 17 its “most powerful standard flagship” to date, while the 17 Pro is being positioned as the “finest compact imaging flagship.” At the very top, the 17 Pro Max is described as the “ultimate peak of Xiaomi’s imaging technology.”
What to expect
In terms of design, the Xiaomi 17 and 17 Pro are expected to sport 6.3-inch OLED displays with ultra-thin bezels. The larger 17 Pro Max could stretch to 6.8 inches. All three phones are rumored to feature 2K resolution OLED panels.
The Pro and Pro Max will also feature a display on the rear, which supports notifications, time display, multitasking, AI interactions, and cross-device functions.

The base Xiaomi 17 reportedly comes with a 7,000mAh battery, while the Pro Max could pack up to 7,500mAh. Even the compact 17 Pro is said to house a 6,300mAh cell with wireless charging support.
As for the cameras, the 17 Pro and Pro Max are rumored to feature a triple 50-megapixel camera setup, including a main SmartSens 590 sensor, an ultra-wide, and a periscope telephoto lens with macro support. All three phones will carry Leica imaging optimization and a 50-megapixel front-facing camera with autofocus.
